Memorial – in memory

First, a salute and humble admiration for all of our service men and women, past, present and future who serve this country, often times with their very lives, to keep us free and ensure that the world has a fighting chance and that tyranny will never stand as long as we’re on watch.

Here in Florida, as the storm passes, our own official celebrations have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean we can slack off and not do our duty as free citizens on this day of memory. Memorial Day should hold a special place in the hearts of all Americans. It’s the day we set aside to remember our soldiers, and not just our military soldiers (at least not for me), but also our police, fire and rescue personnel. They all play their part in keeping us safe, secure and free.

So, if you see a soldier, or know one, or have family in service, please give them a hug, a salute, a handshake, or any symbol of appreciation for their service and their sacrifice. Today is a day of memory, but also of celebration and appreciation. Remember them and thank God for them.
